Mission Statement

Our goal in Lighthouse Theatre is to produce high quality, Broadway-style productions for the community with a thriving, entertaining group of young people who have honed their skills in the performing arts and are committed to excellence in all they do.

Lighthouse Theatre began in 2011, with a family’s dream of creating and producing Broadway-style musicals with young people ages 7 and up.

Our directors conducted Musical Theatre camps in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island for two years before performing our first Broadway production of “Annie Jr.” at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in 2014. We have been entertaining audiences ever since, with some spectacular shows performed at the HUB Theatre in Chilliwack – “Beauty & the Beast” in 2017, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” in 2018 and “Peter Pan” with flying effects by “Flying By Foy” in 2019.

Combined, our directors have a total of over 40 years of experience, both as actors on the stage and in the Director’s chair. Our goal is, together with our students, to continue to grow and produce top quality, Broadway-style productions. We are grateful for the incredibly talented students and the support of our audiences, sponsors and donors because without them our stage would be bare and the seats empty.

Nicole Farion – Artistic Director/Vocal Director

Nicole Farion

Artistic Director/Vocal Director

Nicole began her theatrical career at the age of 6. She performed with Xtreme Theatre for 10 years as well as the Theatre Alumni group for 4 years. She has also performed with Gallery 7 and Secondary Characters. She has been the Director/Vocal Coach of Lighthouse Theatre for the past 7 years. Nicole is currently working on her ARCT in Vocal Performance with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is in grade 9 Royal Conservatory piano, ARCT Royal Conservatory Theory and she has been teaching voice lessons to students of all ages for 8 years.

For me, theatre entered my life at a very young age – I was only 6 years old. In theatre I found a place where I belong. My new theatre family surrounded me with friendship and my teachers spoke confidence into my life as I was encouraged and inspired to strive for more. The community and experiences I found there will be with me forever and my desire is to create that same environment for my students. In theatre I found myself, I found my voice and I discovered a love and a passion for something that has changed my life forever – it’s the reason I do this.

Sarah Goerzen – Artistic Director/Choreographer

Sarah Goerzen

Artistic Director/Choreographer

Sarah started dancing when she was 5 years old. She trained in the Royal Academy of Dance ballet program as well as receiving extensive training in jazz, lyrical, stage, modern, tap, hip hop, contemporary and pointe. She ran her own Dance Studio for 8 years, teaching students ages 3 – 16. Her theatrical career began at the age of 8 and she performed with Xtreme Theatre for 8 years as well as the Theatre Alumni group for 5 years. She has been the Director/Choreographer for Lighthouse Theatre for the past 7 years.

“I dance to live, I dance to breathe, I dance to be free, I dance to be me.” I was five years old when the passion for dance was instilled in my heart. When I close my eyes, the music breathes life into my soul and I am inspired to create poetry on the stage. Musical Theatre has been a source of joy and energy in my life and a unique way to bring all that I love together on a stage – singing, dancing and acting. Theatre gave me a positive, uplifting, confidence-building, relationship-forming arena in which to live my life and I want to share this experience with my students.

Arlene Farion – Assistant Director/Company Producer and Manager

Arlene Farion

Assistant Director/Company Producer and Manager

Arlene has a background in Classical voice performance and has taken extensive training with several vocal coaches throughout her career. She graduated from the Vocal Jazz Program at Vancouver Community College and continues currently to train in voice. She has performed as a soloist, in bands, choirs and as a worship leader for many years. She took an acting course with the Arts Club and performed on the Arts Club Theatre stage in Vancouver. She has been the Production Manager and assistant Director at Lighthouse Theatre for the past 7 years.

As the “Mother of All Things” (from Seussical), I have experienced theatre from a different perspective over the years. What I love is watching students who are initially scared, nervous and unsure, become confident, creative, expressive actors when they perform on the stage. I watch them grow in many areas: confidence, character development, relationships with one another, love, encouragement and support for each other. My goal is to be intentional in developing a community with both parents and students, and to instill in each student a passion for excellence in the arts.
